Most of the story takes place in this region. It features a dry,
unpredictable climate and thin soil that is generally unsuited to large
scale agriculture. Some farms and ranches exist in this region,
but these are usually located along river banks because access to water
remains a problem throughout the area.
As the Tualitin River descends from the Saradon Plateau, it tumbles
through more than 30 miles of a steep gorge. Rail access along
the western flanks of the Upper Angelgate Range allows the scattered
citizenry living there to maintain regular contact with the rest of
Tamaria. These trains, however, served military installations
until the establishment of direct trade on the Velez estate.
Until that time, rail service occurred every six weeks, making this
region the most remote in all of Tamaria.
This is now the most updated version of the area map. It shows details included in "Crisis."
