Because
the Angry Bear River is only navigable to Desperado Falls, that town
became an important link in Tamaria's transportation network.
Most passenger traffic bound for Kameron disembarks there to board
river boats for journeys further south. The efficiency of
Tamaria's rail network elevated the town of Red Claw to the status as
the main center for importing commodities and exporting manufactured
goods. It's cheaper to ship further north by rail than to fight
against the considerable current of the Angry Bear River. (Due to
political and economic constraints, no direct rail lines linked Tamaria
with Kameron prior to the establishment of direct trade with Tamaria by
Lynden Velez.) Additionally, though Vengeance is Tamaria's
second-largest city, and the plateau complex drained by the Venom
River ranks as the most densely populated region in the country,
local geography and river conditions at the confluence of the Venom and
Desolation rivers prevented the Tamarians from building large docking
facilities there.
The
region to the south, accessible by the Tualitin and Virgin river
systems, is too sparsely populated to warrant much commercial
traffic. The Desolation RIver connects with Broken Wing Lake,
another area of dense Tamarian settlement, which is located to the east
of this map.
