Bios: 

Lynden descended from a long line of warriors.  A small group of pious Lithians consistently held to traditional religious practice, and among these, Lynden's parents stood out as exceptionally orthodox.  His father, who'd become a priest after a long military career, did not approve of his nation's departure from the roots of their belief system.  In an effort to bolster support among adherants to their traditions, he sent Lynden to a seminary near the Sea of Tranquility in the hope that the young man would follow him into temple service.

Lynden, however, did not faithfully follow in his father's footsteps.  While attending a school sponsored lacrosse tournament, Lynden literally ran into Alexina during a particularly fierce game.  His interest in her developed from there, though his parents didn't appreciate Lynden courting his future wife at the expense of his religious training.

Alexina came from a family line that boasted no "mixed" marriages.  Because Lynden's father was not full blooded Lithian, initially she did not find the handsome warrior interesting.  But his intellect, devotion to God and leadership ability gradually won her affection.

When the couple married, they lived in the household of Alexina's parents for a number of years, struggling to have children.  (Some "mixed" marriages result in complete infertility, and children of "mixed" parentage are sterile in many instances.)  During this time, several deep incursions into Lithian territory from Azgaril and Kameron prompted Lynden to lead a coalition of warriors fighting against the invaders.  His natural skill with weapons, an uncanny sense of how to use terrain effectively, and his courage inspired other men to rally around him.  Within a few years, Lynden wrestled control of an entire region from his enemies and began prospering from the bounty of that land.

Eventually, he and Alexina moved with their Abelscinnian friends to a large estate on Tranquility Vista.  Alexina conceived and bore four healthy daughters to him.  Other family members commented that battle seemed to increase Lynden's virility, because when he stopped fighting and moved his family to Shirak, they stopped having children.  This remains a source of amusement between them.

The Velez household lived in a modest villa within the city limits for many years before an army of the Azgaril successfully invaded Illithia and burned the Lithian capital to the ground.  Lynden fled with his family into Northern Kameron to escape the Azgaril, but lost Brenna, who stayed behind to find her own way out.
